Innovator 16.2: New Access Options and AI Readiness
Innovator 16.2 offers users exciting new features that make modeling even more efficient and flexible.
Innovator data can now be used even more easily and flexibly throughout the company. There are various options available for this:
- The REST API enables both read and write access to all content in Innovator. Individual endpoints can be provided via a flexible plugin concept.
- Innovator elements and diagrams are now available directly in the browser via the web interface. In addition, all dashboards can be viewed at any time without additional installation.
- With DataBridge, Innovator models can be integrated bidirectionally into other tools. Interfaces to OpenSearch, Neo4j®, Collibra, and Apache Superset are already available and enable seamless connection to different systems.
AI Readiness
Innovator models contain extensive knowledge that can now be easily used throughout the entire company. With the help of an AI agent, the content can be conveniently searched using natural language queries. There are three ways to access it:
- Direct access from Innovator via the MIRA plugin
- Use via a web interface without client installation
- Connection via an MCP server so that a large language model (LLM) can access the content directly. The LLM can be freely selected.
Innovator Platform Improvements
Innovator 16.2 offers a range of new features that make the platform even more powerful:
- Extending Stereotypes: For the element type “extension,” any stereotypes with stereotype properties, type system options, labels, and texts can be defined. These extending stereotypes can be applied to almost all Innovator elements.
- Derived Relationships: Derived relationships are now supported when modeling with ArchiMate® diagrams. Innovator automatically recognizes and manages the underlying paths.
- Handling of Managed Models: Managed models, model versions, and backups can be grouped in nested folders using drag-and-drop. The administration program also allows managed models and all versions to be moved to another agent.
Advanced Options for Information Architects
- Implementation of User-Defined Functions (UDF): You can now create your own functions for entity-relationship and database modeling, including mapping between ER and database, parameters in FROM clauses, IntelliSense, and ER views.
- Improved Governance with Extending Stereotypes: For sensitive data, such as when using the traffic light protocol, dynamic properties are now available via extended stereotypes. These enable particularly fine-grained labeling and control of attributes.
- Object-Relational Mapping and Modeling: ORDBMS support has been expanded. Detailed information is available in the Innovator 16.2 release notes.
- Support for Modern Database Platforms: Innovator has been optimized for object-relational cloud databases, including Databricks®, Athena, BigQuery, and Snowflake®.
Further Improvements to Details for Proven Features
In addition to the major innovations, Innovator 16.2 has been further improved in many areas. Dashboards are now fully integrated into the model editor and can be flexibly stored in any location. The Bpanda Connector now uses the vector graphics stored in the model, which increases performance during use. PowerShell automation (PowerShell 7.6) now also runs on Linux. Advanced configuration options and optimized diagram display are available for impact analysis.
