Working from home has become the new norm for many of us. Sure, it has its perks – flexible hours, no commute and working from the comfort of your own space. But let’s be honest, it can also mean less movement and fewer social interactions. That’s where MID’s sports groups come in to play! They help you stay active, give you a chance to connect with your colleagues and boost your overall well-being.

From yoga to golf – there’s something for everyone

MID offers a bunch of sports groups you can join. Whether it’s yoga on the rooftop terrace, golf, badminton or team sports like football and volleyball – you’ll find your thing. Colleagues meet up during lunch breaks or after work to enjoy their favorite activities together. There’s even a running group that regularly takes part in local running events. Whether it’s the B2Run crossing the finish line in Nuremberg’s football stadium or the muddy, obstacle-filled RunTerra – there’s something for every taste.  New team members are always welcome to try out the different groups from day one. It’s a fun way to meet people outside of work and get moving.

Why MID cares about staying active together

Regular social interaction is super important for our well-being. Lots of us work mainly from home, which is great – but we all miss those quick chats over a coffee or lunch and a catch up with coworkers. MID’s sports groups are a great way to fill that gap. You get to meet up with colleagues outside of work, catch up and feel part of a community. Let’s face it – it’s easy to just sit in front of the screen all day when working from home. Getting active helps you de-stress, stay focused and clear your mind. It’s all about finding your balance and feeling good. Especially after a long day at work, a bit of exercise can work wonders. It’s good for your body and your mind. And with regular set dates, you make time for yourself – something that often gets lost in the daily grind. Plus, it’s just nice to know you’re not alone. Doing things together is simply more fun and you’ll feel how great it is to be part of an active, motivated group.

My Favorite: The Badminton Group

Out of all the options at MID, the weekly badminton group is my personal favorite. It’s fast-paced, fun and great for both beginners and pros. It’s always exciting how the mix of skill, strategy and stamina leads to fun matches. You can really let off steam and clear your head.

One cool thing is how flexible it is – we organize everything via Microsoft Teams. You just say whether you’re joining that week or not. This makes things flexible and different people can take part. There’s generally about 8 people. That means fresh match-ups and new challenges all the time. Whether you’re just starting out or already have experience – everyone’s welcome. It’s not just about the game, but also about learning and growing together.

And the best part? After playing, we often grab a drink and chat about anything and everything. That relaxed time afterwards is just as valuable as the game itself. You get to know your colleagues better and talk about stuff outside work. That’s how real connections and friendships are made.
